Creating Your Account and Getting Verified
Before you can buy, sell, or co-own anything on Slivvy, your identity has to be verified. This protects every member of the platform — including you.
Step 1: Sign up
Create an account with email and password, or sign in with Google. You can also choose your starting path:
- I own an asset I want to list
- I want to buy a share of an asset
- My group is buying an asset together
- I already co-own an asset
You can switch paths later — these just tailor the onboarding flow.
Step 2: Verify your identity (KYC/AML)
Slivvy uses a third-party identity provider to scan your government-issued ID and confirm a selfie liveness check. This is required for any financial activity on the platform.
You'll need:
- A driver's license, passport, or state ID
- A device with a camera for the selfie step
- About 5 minutes
Step 3: Background check
Required before listing or buying. The check covers criminal, civil, and eviction history. Most results return within a few hours; some can take 1–2 business days.
Step 4: Turn on two-factor authentication
We strongly recommend 2FA for every account. Slivvy supports one-time codes by email today, with authenticator-app support rolling out. Enable it under Profile → Security.
Trust score and badges
Once verified, your profile will earn badges like:
- ID Verified — KYC passed
- Background Cleared — background check passed
- Founding Member — joined Slivvy early
- Superowner — high ratings from co-owners over time
Your overall trust score is a composite of these signals plus your platform tenure, review history, and payment record. Co-owners and listing owners see this score when you apply to buy shares.
What if I'm denied?
If verification fails, you'll get a reason and steps to dispute or retry. For complex cases, contact support.
