Trust & Safety, Escrow Protection, and Fraud Prevention

Why trust and safety is foundational

Fractional ownership only works if every party can trust that the platform protects against bad actors. Slivvy bakes safety into the basic plumbing — not as an afterthought.

Identity safeguards

  • KYC/AML on every member — no exceptions
  • Background checks before listing or buying
  • Two-factor authentication available on every account (strongly recommended)
  • Re-verification triggered on suspicious activity

Platform escrow

Funds never move directly between users. Every share purchase, transfer, and reimbursement flows through Slivvy escrow. Benefits:

  • Sellers can't disappear with money mid-transaction
  • Buyers can't withhold funds after closing
  • Slivvy can pause funds for investigation if fraud is suspected
  • Every transaction has a complete audit trail

Holding period on sale proceeds

When you sell shares, proceeds are held for a short verification window before becoming withdrawable. This blocks a specific fraud pattern — selling out right before damage is discovered. The held funds remain visible in your wallet, just not movable until the window closes.

Fraud detection

Slivvy monitors for:

  • Suspicious account activity (unusual logins, rapid changes to payment methods)
  • Fake listings (mismatched documents, impossible ownership claims)
  • Identity fraud (synthetic IDs, document tampering)
  • Coordinated bad behavior across accounts

Suspicious activity triggers a review, and the account or listing may be paused while it's investigated.

Emergency contacts

Every asset has an emergency contact configuration — who to call for fire, flood, break-in, or medical emergencies. If an incident happens, all co-owners are notified and the appropriate vendor response is triggered.

Content moderation

Reviews, listing descriptions, and messages are moderated for harassment, hate speech, fraud signals, and off-platform money requests. Flag anything that looks wrong.

How to report a concern

  • Report a user — from any profile
  • Report a listing — from the listing page
  • Report a safety concern — from the Help menu or asset page

If you're experiencing an in-progress emergency, call local emergency services first, then notify Slivvy and your co-owners.

Off-platform requests are a red flag

If anyone asks you to send money outside Slivvy, sign agreements outside Slivvy, or share login credentials, do not do it and report it. Every legitimate financial action on Slivvy happens inside the platform.
