Buying a Share: The Full Purchase Flow
Before you apply
Make sure your account is fully verified — KYC, background check, and a connected payment method. Fully-verified buyers paying the asking price cannot be declined, so getting verified before you apply matters.
Step 1: Find the right listing
Use the marketplace filters to narrow by asset type, location, price per share, monthly fees, and annual usage days. Save searches to get alerts when matching listings go live.
Step 2: Review the listing carefully
- Photos, video, and amenities
- Share structure — what's available, what each share costs
- Monthly costs — maintenance, reserve, insurance, platform fee
- Usage allocation and booking rules
- Operating Agreement summary (plain English)
- Co-owner profiles, trust scores, and review history
- Inspection summary, insurance coverage, and Slivvy valuation estimate
- Current booking calendar so you can see how busy peak season already is
Step 3: Ask questions
Message the listing owner or any current co-owner directly from the listing page. Their response rate is part of their public trust score, so you'll usually hear back quickly.
Step 4: Submit your application
Choose the number of shares, the price (asking price or a lower offer), and submit. The owner can:
- Accept your offer
- Counter on price (you can accept, counter back, or pass)
- Decline only if you're not fully verified or your offer is below asking
Step 5: Review and sign the Operating Agreement
You'll get a full copy of the Operating Agreement to review. Take your time — this defines your rights, fees, and obligations. E-sign when you're ready.
Step 6: Fund escrow
- Share price — paid into Slivvy escrow from your wallet, bank (ACH), or wire
- First month's maintenance, insurance, and reserve contributions
- Recurring autopay set up for ongoing fees
Step 7: Closing
Once funds clear and the Operating Agreement is fully executed, Slivvy updates the LLC's membership records, issues your electronic share certificate, and adds you to the asset's co-owner group chat and calendar. You'll receive a welcome packet with house rules, vendor contacts, and emergency procedures.
How long does it take?
Most purchases close within a few business days once the seller accepts. Slivvy keeps escrow short to maintain trust on both sides.
