Buying & Joining
Bringing an Existing Co-Owned Asset On-Platform
Who this is for
You already co-own an asset — maybe with family or friends, through a handshake deal, an informal LLC, or a legacy arrangement — and you want better tools to manage it.
Two paths
- Organizer path — you're setting up the asset on Slivvy and inviting your co-owners
- Invited path — someone else is setting it up and you're joining
Organizer path
- Enter the asset details just like a normal listing, but mark it as "existing co-ownership — not for sale" (you can change that later).
- Add each co-owner by name, email, and current ownership percentage. Slivvy invites them to join and verify.
- Upload your existing documents — operating agreement, LLC articles, title, deed. Slivvy reviews and flags missing or risky provisions.
- Upgrade to a Slivvy-standard Operating Agreement. Most platform tools require it. The new version is generated based on your existing terms plus recommended improvements; all co-owners review and e-sign.
- LLC status — if your LLC is in good standing, we'll verify and keep it. If you don't have one, Slivvy can form one and help transfer title in.
- Insurance review — upload your current policy; Slivvy will offer a co-ownership-friendly option if your coverage isn't sufficient.
Invited path
- Accept the invitation and create your Slivvy account.
- Complete KYC, background check, and credit verification.
- Review the asset details and ownership structure the organizer entered.
- Confirm your ownership share.
- Review and e-sign any new or updated legal documents.
- Set up a payment method for ongoing fees.
Once all co-owners are verified and signatures are in, the asset goes "live" on the platform for management.
Transition tips
- You can import past expenses and reserve balance manually, or just set a going-forward starting balance.
- Add your existing vendors (cleaner, landscaper, mechanic) with phone numbers and notes so the whole group has them.
- The calendar starts fresh — most groups find it cleaner to re-book future stays on Slivvy rather than try to import old shared calendars.
Want to sell some shares later?
Once on the platform, any co-owner can list their shares through the transfer workflow — existing co-owners get right of first refusal before they go to the marketplace.
